Darth Vader learned new self respect with Jobscape

After the collapse of the evil galactic empire, Darth Vader felt that there was little future for him on the ever changing job market. His Jedi knight skills were outdated and his track record left a lot to be desired. "It was very disheartening", he admits, "I'd show prospective employers my CV but as soon as they saw my work history they didn't want to know. Let's face it, being an evil galactic warlord doesn't do much for your future career prospects!"

But then Darth's luck changed. Someone told him about Jobscape, an exciting way to learn new skills. "I had nothing better to do and I knew I'd get an extra 10 quid on my benefits, so I thought I'd give it a try", smiles Darth.

At Jobscape, Darth learned some invaluable skills, so in demand in today's employment market. He made friends, gained confidence and most of all gained hands on experience when given a work placement on Mrs Pilkington's flower stall.

"It was a complete break from what I'd done before", laughs Darth. "A lot of my friends teased me about it at first, but now they can see how much happier I am with a new purpose in life."

Mrs Pilkington agrees. "I know he was a bad boy in the past", she says, "but I think everyone deserves a second chance, no matter what they've done. He knows he's got to obey the ground rules - no lightsabres and none of his stormtrooper friends hanging round the stall, but he's a good boy at heart and I'm sure he appreciates it's all for his own good."

Darth Vader has now passed NVQ Cert Level I in flower arranging.

Jabba the Hutt was not looking forward to his first interview. "To be honest," he admits,' "I was completely petrified!"

But Jabba had the advice and know-how of Jobscape's friendly team behind him and before he knew it, he'd landed a job as a carpet fitter! "I'd recommend Jobscape to anyone!", he beams proudly.

After Jabba's Palace was destroyed, Ephant Mon found himself broke, homeless and destitute.

"For a while I got by busking in tube stations," he admits, "but I soon realised I had to take positive career steps if I wanted a real future for myself!"

Just two weeks after joining Jobscape, Ephant was offered a job as a sales assistant in Woolworths! Now he's training to be a manager!

Ephant gives this advice to any young unemployed people:

"To make a difference you have to get up off your backside and do something about your situation", he says, "you can spend your whole life hoping for change, but if you don't personally make that change you can't complain. Just go for it! Jobscape taught me that!"
