Poem - Life of Billy

What a smashing bloke!

Lovely sense of humour,

Always cracking jokes.

Ever so good looking,

Loved by all the girls.

Got a smashing left foot,

Best shot in the world.

What a lot of money!

Is he worth all that?

Paper says he got drunk,

Kicked his wife and cat.

Went into the season

Always late or pissed,

Let the team and fans down,

Scuffed the ball and missed.

Don't want him in our team!

There are younger lads.

They're all fit and eager,

He's just fat and sad.

Once he was a hero,

Now he's paid the cost -

Died on drugs aged fifty.

What a tragic loss.
