Some People

Some people may turn to the whisky

While others go carnally frisky
Despite preachers ruling that this key
To life is eternally risky.

Some people will go for a botox

The wrinkles deferred, nature’s slowed clocks
Convincing them their life ‘just so rocks’
Though they’ll still sweat, livid at roadblocks.

Some people pretend they’re empowered

By gardens festooned with nice flowers
Although their lives soon could be soured
By vandals, floods, vindictive cowards…

Some people will talk of their life’s rue

With biscuits and cups of warm Ty-Phoo
But if I could dream sleepless nights through
I’d snuggle up closely… beside you.
